Long life, wet look gloss, slip resistant sealer finish

The ideal choice for terrazzo, marble and granite as well as unglazed terracotta, quarry tile and slate floors. MARBLETECH is a totally new sealer finish developed to give ultra clear, non-yellowing, rich and deep gloss floors that resist scratching and loss of gloss in heavy traffic.

Carefully selected, high adhesion polymers gives a remarkable bond to the floor which dramatically increases “walk off” resistance and resistance to the abrasive wear found in shopping centres. This adhesion power can give you the solution to problem floors like worn ceramic tiles and granite floors and in building foyers and washroom areas.

MARBLETECH is easily repairable under normal speed and U.H.S buffing equipment, marks and scratches buff out easily giving you the easiest and lowest cost to maintain floors - because you can buff faster.

The Most Important Feature - High Slip Resistance

The single most important feature of floor finishes used on stone or terrazzo is that they must provide a high level of slip resistance on indoor surfaces. MARBLETECH has been specifically formulated, using test equipment and staff from the UNIVERSITY OF NSW to reduce the dangers of slippage on dry floors. Test data can be provided to those wishing to safeguard their public liability in slip-fall accidents.

Advantage Summary

  • Can be used from top to bottom on terrazzo, no need for pre-sealers or undercoats except on “extremely porous” floors.
  • Easily repairable, highly scratch resistant.
  • Wet look gloss on U.H.S and slow speed burnishing.
  • Can be used on “problem floors” like unglazed ceramic tiles, granite and slate.
  • Very high resistance to dry floor slippage.

Directions

For best adhesion it is imperative that all old sealers, dirt and deep seated stains be removed by stripping. In the worst case, on damaged ceramic tiles acid washing may be necessary to remove deep seated staining. (Refer to RESEARCH PRODUCTS for individual instructions).

Stripping

Apply either SLEDGEHAMMER or STEAMROLLER II strippers to remove old buildup as recommended on label.

There is no need to rinse these strippers on marble, granite or tiled floors however it is recommended on terrazzo with the addition of 1 cup of NEUTRO (approx 300ml) per 50 litres of rinse water.

Applying Finish

High Porosity Terrazzo - To reduce cost and improve stain and chemical spill resistance on very porous floors apply one or two coats of BEDROCK or BLOCKADE concrete sealer to the floor, prior to application of MARBLETECH allow 1 hour (per coat) drying if BLOCKADE is used.

Marble, Slate, Granite or Ceramic

No pre-sealing is recommended on the surfaces as it reduces the level of adhesion of MARBLETECH. Always use polycotton (fully detergent pre-washed) mops for application of MARBLETECH. First coat should be applied heavier than subsequent coats - This initial floor coat ensures perfect levelling and allows easier and even appearance on following coats - these should be applied wet enough to self level.

Depending on the gloss requirement three or four coats will be sufficient to produce a high gloss off the mop. In cold weather allow 1 hour between coats and 20 to 30 minutes in summer. MARBLETECH as your sacrificial coat you are protecting your most precious asset - your floor. To help lengthen the life of MARBLETECH you must remove the damaging grit by dust mopping, using matting and auto scrubbing with a neutral cleaner, with a low residue of alkalinity and detergent stickiness that attracts soilage and grit. Here’s our recommended maintenance.

Maintenance

Autoscrubbing Daily
Use either NEUTRACLEAN at 1 to 120 parts water or SUPASTAR at 1 to 100 parts water for maintenance through machine on a daily basis. If the floor is showing signs of wear, use SHINER for low speed, REBOUND for U.H.S equipment at 1 to 80 parts water 2 out of 5 days or 3 out of 7 days. SHINER will improve gloss after buffing.

Burnishing
Dry burnish using U.H.S or regular speed machinery. Hair and fibre or beige pads have met with success on machinery over 1500 RPM as they remove scratching and scuff marks easily. Under 1300 RPM, brushes as well as pads can be used with success.

Restoration
REBOUND restorer has been used with a high level of success in improving the appearance of entrances or traffic lanes and funnel areas. This can be either spray buffed at 1 to 6 parts water or applied by mop at 1 to 20 parts water and burnished when completely dry (15 to 30 minutes). This dramatically improves the gloss and increases the time between recoating.

Precautions

When maintaining MARBLETECH on glazed tiles or highly polished granite, never spraybuff the floor, never buff the floor immediately after wet mopping, allow twenty minutes to dry otherwise the polish film may be partly removed. Never autoscrub highly polished granite sealer with MARBLETECH, damp mop only.
